Airflow® polishing is a modern procedure designed to remove plaque using a specific device that emits a combination of air, water and sodium bicarbonate. It’s primarily used as an alternative to scraping.
The system utilises a fine jet of compressed air and water to effectively remove extrinsic staining and tartar build-up at the front and back of the teeth, as well as sub-gingivally around the gums.
The process is gentler and less invasive than conventional scaling methods and is ideal for nervous or anxious patients or those with sensitive teeth. It’s also safe to use on crowns, bridges, implants or veneers and can be utilised as a standalone treatment or as part of the dental check-up and cleaning process.
